“One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation."  – Arthur Ashe
Real estate agents are salespeople. To get clients to “buy” what they are selling, they must be perceived as confident in their skills and abilities. In other words, they must be able to market themselves.
Successful marketing requires confidence Confidence is a key element for any successful salesperson. This is especially true for real estate agents, who guide buyers and sellers through what are sometimes million-dollar transactions. In his book, “Real Estate Marketing and Sales Essentials: Steps for Success,” real estate expert and training authority Dan Hamilton dedicated an entire chapter to the psychology of marketing. The chapter offers simple yet effective advice to real estate agents on how to be more confident.

According to Hamilton’s book, to be successful at marketing, one needs to: 1. Get tough with oneself 2. Don’t fear the competition 3. Be open to new things 4. Get the success frame of mind 5. Practice and persistence 6. Have confidence

Psychology-based confidence-building exercises
In addition to Hamilton’s advice, Leslie Ye, editor of Hubspot.com’s sales blog, reported on several techniques for building confidence in a recent article. Her suggestions, all of which were backed by actual studies, included:
1. Strike a power pose — Body language can affect your confidence level. 2. Smile — Even a fake or forced smile affects how you feel. 3. Lean on a friend — Social support also affects confidence levels, according to Psychology Today. 4. Listen to empowering music — A high-powered song can do wonders for your confidence, according to a 2014 study. 5. Create an alter-ego — “When you need a quick boost of confidence, getting out of your own head can make a big difference,” Ye wrote.
